“Natural Arts” Chinese Sculpture Exhibition of works by Professor Songtao Zhang is being held at Saskatoon AKA Artist Run Center from February 27 to March 17, co-organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan and the Department of Art and Art History.

Professor Songtao Zhang is the Head of Sculpture Department, Hubei Institute of Fine Arts and the Director of the Institute of Chinese Sculpture. He also serves as the Director of China’s Urban Sculptors’ Association and the member of the Standing Committee, China’s Sculpture Arts and Crafts Society. He is also actively involved in the promotion of sculpture art, and his artistic works have been exhibited in more than 30 art events in China and other countries, including Belgium, the United States, and South Korea.

The artworks he brought to Saskatoon for the exhibition this time is part of his masterpiece “A Corner”. This masterpiece is imitation from a corner of the natural wilderness. It is an imitation for the creator. It makes use of a variety of artificial materials, copper, iron, tin, wood, glasses, etc, to explore nature perfectness. It expresses the feeling of growth in the space and the consciousness of the traditional Chinese literati reclusion.
