On June 1, 2017, the Dance Group of the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan went to Edmonton on invitation to join in the Beijing Opera Festival.
The 2017 Beijing Opera Festival was initiated by Edmonton Beijing Opera Association and organized by the Confucius Institute in Edmonton. To give the festival a different flavor, the U of S CI Dance Group were invited to perform a Chinese classic dance “Cai Wei”. The melodious music and the elegant movements of the dancers brought the audience into a dreamlike world of peace and tranquility.
Members of the U of S CI Dance Group include U of S students, U of S CI volunteer teachers, and local dance-lovers. Every year, they are invited to participate in tens of performances at different cultural events in and around Saskatoon, which has enabled the local residents to know and understand Chinese culture.
