U of S CI Directors Attended the Joint Conference of Canadian CIs

Dr. Li Zong, Canadian Co-Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan, and Dr. Ning Liu, Chinese Co-Director, together attended the Joint Conference of Canadian Confucius Institutes held on October 30, 2017 at the University of Regina.

Dr. Li Zong, Canadian Co-Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan, and Dr. Ning Liu, Chinese Co-Director, together attended the Joint Conference of Canadian Confucius Institutes held on October 30, 2017 at the University of Regina.
More than 40 participants attended the conference, including delegates from China’s Embassy in Canada, Confucius Institute Headquarters, University of Regina, Hunan University, and the 12 Confucius Institutes in Canada.
Many important issues concerning the Canadian CIs are addressed and discussed at the conference, such as the challenges and opportunities Canadian CIs are facing, the characteristic development and collaborative innovation of the Canadian CIs, how to cultivate local teachers and improve teaching quality, etc. Dr. Li Zong’s speech “The challenges Canadian CIs are facing today” and Dr. Ning Liu’s speech “Innovation on CI’s regular program”  were highly praised and appreciated by all the participants. The U of S CI also learned a lot from the experiences of the other CIs in how to improve the teaching qualities, how to enhance the academic exchange of the partner universities, how to organize China tours more effectively, etc.
