U of S CI Participated in Saskatoon Open Door Society Activities

The Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan participated in two community activities organized by Saskatoon Open Door Society on March 24 and 25, 2017 respectively.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan participated in two community activities organized by Saskatoon Open Door Society on March 24 and 25, 2017 respectively.

On March 24, 2017, “Empowering Immigrant Women” activity was held in Queen’s House by Saskatoon Open Door Society. This event aimed to encourage new immigrant women to be actively and successfully involved in the workforce, to boost their self-esteem and self-confidence, and to help improve their social status. More than 200 newly-immigrated female citizens took part in this activity. The U of S CI performed two Chinese arts at the event. The Taichi Fan performed by the volunteer teachers brought out all the elegance and strength of the Chinese women. Their “fashion show” in typical Chinese costumes also aroused hails of applauses and cheers from the audience.

On March 25, 2017, the U of S CI took part in the “I Am with You Always” activity organized by Saskatoon Open Door Society in St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Many artists from different ethnic background brought their works to event to raise fund for the Aboriginal people’s education, medical care, community-development, etc. The U of S CI performed “Panda Dance”, “Lion Dance” and “Qipao Show”, which brought about a lot of entertainment to the audience.
