2017 Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration

The Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan, together with the Saskatoon Chinese Artists and Musicians’ Alliance, organized the “2017 Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration”

On September 23, 2017, the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan (the U of S CI), together with the Saskatoon Chinese Artists and Musicians’ Alliance, organized the “2017 Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration” at Lakeview Church in Saskatoon.

Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival that has been celebrated by the Chinese people for thousands of years to signify one of the most important family reunions in a year. People from faraway get back home to meet with their families and eat moon-cakes under the bright full moon of autumn.

Many performers participated in the “2017 Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration”, including the performers from the U of S Confucius Institute Dance Group, Saskatchewan Chinese Dance School, Saskatoon Chinese Qipao Show Group, the winners from Saskatchewan Youth Culture Festival, the performer from India, etc. More than 300 audiences attended the celebration gala.

Mr. Charlie Clark, Mayor of City of Saskatoon, and Dr. Ning Liu, Director of Confucius Institute at the U of S, delivered the opening remarks and gave their blessing to the audiences and the local Chinese community.
