U of S CI Participated in Community Block Party

On June 23, 2018, the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan participated in the BBQ Block Party organized by the Juniper House to celebrate its ninth anniversary. More than 200 audience, including the senior citizens living in the Juniper House, and local residents in the neighborhood, attended the celebration.

On June 23, 2018, the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan participated in the BBQ Block Party organized by the Juniper House to celebrate its ninth anniversary. More than 200 audience, including the senior citizens living in the Juniper House, and local residents in the neighborhood, attended the celebration.

The U of S CI volunteer teachers, led by the Chinese Co-Director Dr. Ning Liu and the Administrative Coordinator Ms. Dan Zhao, arrived at the Juniper House early in the morning to help the preparation for the event. At 12:00, the celebration started. The first performance was from the U of S CI Lion and Dragon Dance Group. The lion and the pandas danced together in greatly harmony, which brought the celebration to the climax from the very start. Then came the Chinese folk dance “Charm of the Yi Village”, performed by the U of S CI Chinese Dance Group.

Other organizations being invited to perform at the celebration included the Saskatoon Chinese Dance Club, Saskatchewan Chinese Qipao Show Association, etc. They also brought to the event a lot of wonderful art performances.
