On June 20, 2018, the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan took part in the Saskatoon International Refugee Day Event, on invitation from Saskatchewan Intercultural Association.

The International Refugee Day aims to draw attention to the problems of the refugees and extends thanks and gratitude to international and local organizations for their understanding and support for the refugees. The Saskatoon International Refugee Day Event was organized by Saskatchewan Intercultural Association to show the understanding and harmony among different cultures. People from different cultural background in different costumes paraded the Saskatoon Midtown Plaza. Among the parade were the U of S CI volunteers who were in the costumes of the Yi ethnic group to represent the Chinese people.

The participation of the U of S CI in such cultural activities has been highly welcomed and appreciated by the Saskatchewan Intercultural Association and the local citizens.
