March 26, 2022, the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan (USask CI) was invited to participate in the celebration of the Spring Festival and Independence Day of Bangladesh hosted by the Bangladeshi Community Association of Saskatchewan (BCAS).

The event took place at Saskatoon Mayfair United Church. More than 300 people from Bangladeshi and other local communities attended the event.  Many participants dressed in traditional Bangladeshi clothing. Talented performers from the Bangladeshi community performed singing, dancing, and instrument.

At the event, the USask CI Dance Group performed a classical Chinese fan dance “Clouds Are Scattered” and Ms. Jennifer Zhao played the Chinese instrument Zhongruan Solo “Night of the Torch Festival”.  The USask CI also showcased Chinese Hanfu (costumes of the Han Dynasty), Qipao and other traditional clothing in a beautiful fashion show.  At the end of the event, Bangladeshi and Chinese performers gathered on the stage to greet each other and take pictures together.
