The Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan (USask CI) participated in the 2022 Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan at Kinsmen Park between June 2nd and 5th. Thousands of children, parents, teachers, and caregivers showed up in the fun-fueled four-day celebration.

The USask CI pavilion is part of the Childhood around the World site. This area of the festival provides children an opportunity to experience various cultures around the world through performances and activities. Children stopped by the CI booth to get their names written in Chinese characters, try on traditional Chinese dresses, and draw and color giant pandas.

The audiences were amazed by the CI lion dance performance and the Guzheng instrument performance. Many children came to say hi and take pictures with the lion and panda afterwards. On the weekend, the Chinese Dance School of Saskatchewan (CDSS) also joined in the event. The CDSS brought 3 beautiful Chinese dances presented by the children and youth dancers.  The audiences clapped along with the music and gave rounds of applause to the CI and CDSS performers.
