March 14, 2019, the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan took part in the Global Village Event at the Louis’ Pub and Loft organized by the USask International Student and Study Abroad Center (ISSAC). Many USask international student organizations joined in the event to demonstrate their own cultures.
The USask CI booth displayed a variety of stereotypical Chinese cultural things, including the Chinese knots, panda dolls, paper-cutting, calligraphy, dough figurines, etc. The U of S CI Dance Group performed the Chinese folk-dance “Charm of the Yi Village” to more than 300 audience.
