World Chinese Language Conference

From December 7th to 9th, Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan participated in the 2023 World Chinese Language Conference.

The World Chinese Language Conference was held from December 7 to 9, 2023, in Beijing, China. Under the theme of “Chinese for the World, Openness into the Future”, the conference was hosted by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China and co-hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, the Chinese International Education Foundation and International Society for Chinese Language Teaching.
About 2,000 participants from over 160 countries, both domestic and international, attended the conference. This diverse group included representatives from governments, education authorities, educational institutions, international language and cultural organizations, leaders of international organizations, university presidents, renowned Chinese education experts, Sinologists, diplomats, and business representatives.
Dr. Darcy Marciniuk, Associate Vice-President Research at the University of Saskatchewan (USask) and the Chair of the USask CI Management Committee, was invited to attend the conference.

The delegation of USask CI visited Beijing Institute of Technology

During the conference, Dr. Darcy Marciniuk visited USask's long-time partner, the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), and had a friendly meeting with Dr. Wang Bo, BIT's Vice President. Both sides reached a consensus on continuing to support the joint construction of the Confucius Institute as a platform to deepen exchanges and cooperation in talent cultivation, student exchange, scientific research, and other aspects.
During the visit, Dr. Darcy Marciniuk also toured the National Engineering Research Center for Electric Vehicles, the BIT History Museum and the Key Laboratory of Brain Health Intelligent Evaluation and Intervention of the Ministry of Education at BIT.
