USask CI Dance Team Performed for the 2023 CBIE Western Regional Meeting

The USask CI dance team performed for the CBIE Western Regional Meeting gala at Remai Modern art museum.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the University of Saskatchewan co-hosted the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE) 2023 Western Regional Meeting on May 24th and 25th.  This 2-day event was comprise of a series of information sessions, roundtable discussions, and networking activities with a focus on the future of international education. International education practitioners, leaders from colleges and universities, K-12 schools, as well as government officials and corporate partners attended the meeting.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan (USask CI) dance team was honored to be invited to perform along with the Indigenous dancers for the conference gala on May 24th at Remai Modern art museum. The Chinese dancers performed a classic dance The Song of the Morning Sunlight.  This dance depicts daily life of Shanghai women who wear elegant Qipao dress, face the rising sun, lightly shake the cattail fans, and start a new day full of love and hope.

 

May is Asian Heritage month in Canada.  We are privileged to have this opportunity to be part of the 2023 CBIE Regional Meeting, to showcase and celebrate Chinese culture and heritage through dance and music.
