2024 Saskatoon Chinese New Year Celebration

On February 3rd, 2024, the Federation of Saskatoon Chinese Canadian Organization and the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan co-organized the 2024 Saskatoon Chinese New Year Celebration at the Saskatoon TCU Place.

On February 3rd, the 2024 Saskatoon Chinese New Year Celebration took place at TCU Place, jointly organized by the Federation of Saskatoon Chinese Canadian Organizations (FSCCO) and the Confucius Institute at the University of Saskatchewan (USask CI).

With an attendance of over 500 people, the event featured a delightful banquet and a captivating show. Distinguished speakers including Zhuoyang Li, President of FSCCO; Brad Redekopp, Member of Parliament for Saskatoon West; Bronwyn Eyre, Minister of Justice and Attorney General for the Government of Saskatchewan; Charlie Clark, Mayor of Saskatoon; Dr. Baljit Singh, Vice President Research at the University of Saskatchewan, and Qingfeng Gao, Vice President of Respon Wealth Management Corp., extended their remarks and New Year wishes to the audience.

The evening featured remarkable performances by talented groups, including FSCCO, USask CI, the Chinese Dance School of Saskatchewan, the Chinese Martial Arts Academy, and the Sound of Afghanistan Choir from the Saskatoon Open Door Society. Highlights of the night included the mesmerizing Lion Dance Team, the captivating Folk Music Group, and the energetic Dance Team from USask CI, ensuring the audience was thoroughly entertained. The CI cultural calligraphy booth also provided attendees with the opportunity to receive "Fu(福)" characters.

In celebration of the Year of the Dragon in 2024, symbolizing power, strength, wisdom, and auspiciousness, both USask CI and the Saskatoon Chinese Community expressed their heartfelt wishes for a New Year filled with happiness.
